Out of Chaos: The Spiritual Aspects of Exile

The symposium will begin with chapel on Wednesday, November 7th and conclude on Friday, November 9th with a “mini Pow Wow.”
Our keynote speaker is Dr. David Wilkins, the McKnight Presidential Professor of American Indian Studies at the University of Minnesota Law School. He also is Adjunct Professor of Political Science, Law and American Studies at the University of Minnesota. He is co-author, with Vine Deloria Jr., of Tribes, Treaties, and Constitutional Tribulations (1999). His latest book is Red Prophet: The Punishing Intellectualism of Vine Deloria Jr., released just weeks ago.
He and Shelly Wilkins, co-authors of Dismembered: Native Disenrollment and the Battle for Human Rights, will make a presentation together during the symposium.
A host of others from the LSTC community and the local Native community also will lead sessions throughout the event.
