Chris Huang joins LSTC as director of institutional effectiveness and registrar
October 2, 2020
Chris Huang joined the Lutheran School of Theology at Chicago on August 24 as Director of Institutional Effectiveness and Registrar. He brings 14 years of experience serving as a registrar, overseeing student records, registration, course scheduling, and catalog production.
Using and implementing technology to streamline processes and actively participating in strategic planning initiatives are two key areas of interest for Huang.
“The Registrar’s Office is a hub that uniquely bridges the academic and administrative sides of an institution. I look forward to designing collaborative processes for LSTC offices to work together effectively, alongside identifying ways that data can provide insights to improve our seminary,” Huang said.
As the immediate past chair of the American Association of Collegiate Registrars and Admissions Officers (AACRAO) Asian and Pacific Islander caucus, he valued the opportunity to learn and support colleagues from other caucuses: Black, Latinx, and LGBTQIA.
“Chris not only brings a wealth of valuable knowledge and resources to LSTC, but also a passion to serve students,” said Dr. Esther Menn, academic dean. “He will affirm and provide a sense of belonging to all those we serve.”
Huang received his bachelor’s degree from Calvin College and his master’s degree from Purdue Northwest. In his free time, he enjoys playing golf, listening to worship music, watching movies and spending time with his family.
