Can you share some highlights or meaningful moments from your life since you graduated from LSTC?
There have been many wonderful memories of serving in parish ministry at six congregations.
How has your LSTC experience shaped your journey?
First, I remember making friends with many classmates, as well as professors, and in some ways their wives. Notable influences were Bill Lesher, Maury Niedenthal, Walter Michel, Bob Benne, and Carl Braaten.
Do you have any words of encouragement for current students?
1. When you begin serving at your first call, don’t assume you know a lot and need to share your ideas right away. Take time to get to know people and learn to be more patient and humble.
2. Take time to visit your members at home, at their workplace, and in public. Let them tell you their story and help you understand their life and their place in the congregation.
3. Make time every day for personal devotions and pray about everything! And for everyone!
4. Be sure to become active in your community: in ministerial associations, service clubs or organizations, and other areas where you can be the face of your congregation, and be an example of love, joy, and service to the Lord Jesus Christ!
