LSTC a good fit for Maeve Schurz
Maeve Schurz, an MDiv student and Public Church Fellow whose home congregation is Trinity Evangelical Lutheran Church in Lansdale, Pa., graduated last spring from Susquehanna University (religious studies and psychology). Three classmates there had a “seminary reveal party” to announce where they’d attend seminary. She and Troy Spencer revealed they had decided on LSTC, which she said was a good fit and better financially for her.
She credits staff, students and faculty she met at a Seminary Sampler with instilling in her a strong sense of community here. She also had a great conversation with President Nieman. He assured her that as she discerned where she might go, she would get a good education whatever she chose. Her Public Church Fellows site is the “Bridges of Hope” program of NAMI (National Alliance on Mental Illness); she provides training in congregations and schools.
