LSTC is thrilled to announce an inspiring and eventful Orientation Week, celebrating our new chapter at our updated location: 5416 S. Cornell Avenue, fourth floor, Chicago, Illinois 60615. We are proud to call the Reverend Donald Senior, CP Academic Center building on the campus of Catholic Theological Union our new home.
Get Ready for a Week of Excitement
Our Orientation Week is set to commence on Monday, August 28, and extend through Friday, September 1. This week promises an array of engaging activities designed to help you seamlessly transition into your seminary journey and immerse yourself in our vibrant community.
Discover LSTC Together!
Throughout the week, you’ll have the opportunity to connect with some of LSTC’s most esteemed members, including Erik Christensen, Pastor to the Community, and Keith Hampton, Cantor to the Seminary Community. These key leaders will introduce you to the rich worship life at LSTC, a cornerstone of our spiritual journey.
You’ll also meet fellow students in the international and graduate student associations, fostering connections and friendships that will carry you through your academic years. Finally, you’ll have the opportunity to meet faculty and staff who are committed to enriching your journey and have the opportunity to join Professor Mark Swanson on a captivating tour of Hyde Park, followed by a visit to the renowned Art Institute of Chicago.

This week, you’ll learn about LSTC’s impactful community relationships and gain insights into the resources available to you as a student here. The Regenstein Library stands as a treasure trove of knowledge, while our student assistance resources provide support for housing, food, and clothing, ensuring your well-being.
Embrace the Richness of LSTC
Our schedule is brimming with enriching activities!
On Monday, we will start with a hearty breakfast and then embark on a journey of welcome and registration. Engage in morning devotions, icebreakers, and orientation sessions that will introduce you to the heart of LSTC. Dive into worship and explore worship life during a lunch meeting with Pastor Erik.
Tuesday offers sessions on housing, financial aid, faculty introductions, curriculum insights, and anti-racism discussions. Learn about master’s and international student associations while enjoying lunch.
Wednesday’s agenda features library conversations, contextual education discussions, community Eucharist, and a resource fair showcasing LSTC and Hyde Park community groups.
Thursday is dedicated to exploration as we embark on a Hyde Park walking tour, followed by visits to the University of Chicago and the iconic Regenstein Library. For art enthusiasts, an optional trip to the Art Institute awaits.
Friday brings more optional experiences: visit the American Islamic College’s Mosque, master the Chicago Transit Authority’s buses and trains, and embark on another library tour.
