From the Office of the President: Reflections on a New Beginning

A few days after my first son was born, I shared with a parish member my amazement at how quickly we had bonded. That’s how it’s been for me since joining the LSTC community a month ago. You’re all already a part of my life and my story!
The kid wasn’t perfect, of course, nor was/is his dad. We had a few things to work out over the years, mostly a few areas in which he needed to teach and correct me. Here among the good people of LSTC too, I learn new things every day, which is, after all, the very essence of a school.
In the other schools I’ve served, I’ve issued frequent brief “P.O.” (from the President’s Office) reflections. At least a few folks seemed to appreciate it, so I’ll try the practice here for a while and see how it goes.
In just the short span of a month, so many things have happened. Wonderful chapel worship times, a powerful three-school World Mission Institute evening, individual and group meetings with students, faculty, staff, board members and leaders of CTU and McCormick. I suspect my most lasting memory will be the faculty and board’s bold “Statement” of recommitment and resistance in the face of the Trump administration’s assaults on so many vulnerable people, allies, and institutions.
I’ve had a lot of privileges in my lifetime. Being your Interim President is a big one. Thanks for sharing the journey these next few months!
