The LSTC Writing Center

The Writing Center at the Lutheran School of Theology at Chicago was established to support students in developing academic writing skills. After our move, we developed a new writing center tailored to the particular needs of our students who were part of the former center. Through its various programs, the Writing Center aims to provide a rich global and theological context to help ensure that seminary students’ experiences are relevant to their future roles as leaders in ministry.

Each year, the Writing Center offers FREE workshops, tutoring, and training tailored to the needs of the student population and faculty concerns. Additionally, as a resource center, many learning tools are available to assist seminary students in improving their writing and communication skills, as well as enhancing the cross-cultural learning experience.

Through our one-on-one tutoring program, we help students enhance their English language and academic writing skills. The length and number of tutoring sessions depend on each student’s specific needs.

The mission of the Writing Center is to acknowledge and celebrate academic diversity and growth. We provide an environment where students’ learning differences are respected and addressed, and where they are encouraged to explore their unique voices and skills.
