Ceciley R. Akins joins LSTC as philanthropic engagement associate

Ceciley R. Akins joined the Advancement team of the Lutheran School of Theology at Chicago (LSTC) as Philanthropic Engagement Associate on Jan. 4.
“I am delighted to welcome Ceciley to the LSTC Advancement Team. She brings a wide range of skills and experience from her work with nonprofit and for-profit organizations,” said Sandra Nelson, vice president for advancement. “Her ability to build relationships and partnerships on behalf of LSTC will help our team meet its goals for increasing support for the school’s mission.”
Her work will be focused on major gifts, strengthening relationships with donors to provide greater impact for LSTC.
“It is a blessing to re-join a community of higher learning – in particular, theological education,” Akins said. “I enjoy the energy on campus and the enthusiasm from the donors who support the mission of LSTC. And for that, I am most grateful to be here to do my part in furthering the body of Christ and increasing advancements here at LSTC.”
Akins has worked in fundraising, corporate and foundation relations, donor relations and grant writing for Garrett Evangelical Theological Seminary in Evanston, Ill., and By The Hand Club for Kids in Chicago. Prior to shifting to fundraising, she worked in marketing and advertising for nine years for Tribune 365 and Children’s Habilitation Center.
She holds a B.A. in Speech Communications from Chicago State University.
