LSTC Looks Forward to Fall 2026 Orientation

Lutheran School of Theology at Chicago is excited to welcome new and returning students to campus for Fall 2026 Orientation, September 2–4.

This year’s orientation theme, “Made for This,” draws from Ephesians 2:8–10 and invites students to begin the academic year by reflecting on the gifts, experiences, and callings that have brought them to LSTC.

Over three days, LSTC students will have opportunities to meet classmates, faculty, and staff; become familiar with campus resources and academic expectations; connect with faculty advisors; and explore the wider Hyde Park and University of Chicago communities. Orientation will begin Wednesday morning with check-in, breakfast, a campus tour, morning devotion, and a welcome from President Shauna Hannan and Dean Robert Smith.

Throughout Wednesday and Thursday, students will participate in sessions designed to prepare them for life and learning at LSTC, including introductions to the student handbook, MyLSTC and Brightspace, financial aid, academic writing, library resources, security and parking, and curriculum planning. Students will also visit the University of Chicago’s Regenstein Library and may join an optional walking tour of Hyde Park.

Orientation concludes Friday with programming on professional boundaries and the work of LSTC’s Center of Christian-Muslim Engagement (CCME), followed by a visit to the Masjid Al-Taqwa community in Hazel Crest. Students will meet with Imam Tariq and members of the community, observe Jumuah prayer, and share a picnic lunch before returning to campus.
