Master of Divinity

What is your favorite memory of your time at LSTC?

Worshiping in the original LSTC sanctuary and meeting Dr. Gordon Straw, whose words of  encouragement and theological insight were deeply meaningful.

What was the most meaningful class you took?

The most meaningful class I took was Sacramental Landscape, taught by Dr. Ben Stewart.  This course deepened my understanding of how God’s grace is encountered through  place, creation, and everyday lived experience. It reshaped how I think about sacramental theology beyond the church building and helped me see ministry as attentiveness to God’s  presence in the world. The course has had a lasting impact on how I approach worship,  pastoral care, and contextual ministry.

How did you feel supported during your seminary journey? Were you the recipient of any major scholarships? What communities or people uplifted you during your studies?

I felt supported during my seminary journey through institutional flexibility, financial  assistance, and encouragement from faith communities and mentors. Responding to my  call, I enrolled in the LSTC MDiv program as a remote student. COVID-19 expanded online  synchronous learning, allowing my studies to continue. As a working professional and  international student, visa challenges sometimes affected CPE and internship placement.  I received scholarships from the ELCA, LSTC, and St. Andrews Lutheran Church, Franklin,  TN. I am grateful to Pastor Michael Lippard, Pastor Dave Koppel, and the congregations of  St. Andrews and Palm Valley Lutheran Church, Round Rock, TX, whose guidance sustained  my formation. I also appreciate the guidance of my advisor, Dr. Mark Swanson, and the  faculty at LSTC for their mentorship and encouragement. The LSTC Greece–Turkey study  trip, led by Dr. Esther Menn and Dr. Barbara Rossing, further strengthened my biblical and  theological formation through engagement with the archaeological context of Paul’s  missionary journeys.

What are your post-graduation plans?

Having completed my MDiv, I look forward to receiving my first call in ministry and, as God  leads, pursuing a PhD in the coming years.

How did LSTC shape you as a future leader of the public church?

LSTC shaped me into a confident and dynamic leader for the public church through  rigorous coursework, faithful mentorship, and theological depth. The professors equipped  me with wisdom and practical insight, enabling me to proclaim the gospel with clarity and  confidence. Through this formation, my spiritual life was also strengthened, grounding my  leadership in faith, humility, and service.
