What is your favorite memory of your time at LSTC?
Dinner Church at Augustana Lutheran with fellow students and community
What was the most meaningful class you took?
The Public Church series of classes was both meaningful and challenging with the focus on moving from values to boots-on-the-ground action.
How did you feel supported during your seminary journey? Were you the recipient of any major scholarships? What communities or people uplifted you during your studies?
I had a fantastic cohort of students who included me despite my being an online student for a significant portion of my degree. I also felt very supported by my professors, who helped me think about where to take my interests and talents despite my not being involved in Lutheran candidacy.
What are your post-graduation plans?
I plan to start a Master’s in counseling this fall, with the intention of becoming a therapist who works with people who have experienced religious trauma.
How did LSTC shape you as a future leader of the public church?
LSTC helped me face with honesty the help and harm perpetrated by the church over the centuries. I think any future leaders or representatives of our faith need to be equipped to respond to our complete past and present in order to be open and welcoming to the public.
