What brought you to LSTC?

My pastor at Ebenezer Lutheran in Andersonville, Rev. Michael Fick (MDiv ’04), thought I would be a good fit for the program. I share LSTC’s commitment to social justice, reconciliation, and interfaith organizing.

What people, communities, or experiences have been important sources of support for you?

I have received so much support from my small group at Ebenezer Lutheran, my loved ones, and my friends at Arts of Life, a progressive art studio for artists will developmental disabilities, where I worked just before beginning seminary. They all have encouraged me to use my background as an artist and sociologist to expand the vision of what leadership as a minister can offer the ELCA and the global Church.

What are you most looking forward to during your time at LSTC?

I look forward to getting to learn from my peers, who have a diversity of lived experiences, backgrounds, and calls to ministry that enrich the conversations we have as we study together alongside thoughtful instruction from faculty and staff. I also look forward to the long journey of the candidacy process as I explore my call to minister to the ELCA and its churches in the Metro Chicago Synod while completing my theological studies.

What is one thing you would want someone considering theological education to know?

There is a place for you here at seminary, even if you are walking with doubts or challenges in your faith. The community here is welcoming and will encourage you on your personal journey towards knowing God and how to care for Their people both responsibly and with love.
